LAHAD DATU, March 4 — The morale of police officers and men stationed in Sabah remains high despite the death of eight policemen at the hands of the Filipino intruders, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.
He said the killing of the policemen in skirmishes in Kampung Tanduo here on Friday and Semporna on Saturday had not dampened the spirits of the police officers and men on the ground.
Speaking at a news conference here, Ismail (picture) cited two factors that had raised their morale, namely the death of their friends and the success of the operations in killing 19 of the intruders so far.
Meanwhile, armed forces chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said he ordered one company of the army to strengthen the position of the security forces in Kunak.
The presence of the army is to help the police to maintain peace and order in Kunak, he added. — Bernama
