It was slightly cold in Negeri Sembilan last weekend because of the rain. The political climate, however, was very hot.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was greeted by about 30,000
people upon arrival at a 3,000-table dinner held by the Negri Sembilan
Federation of Chinese Association in Seremban. It was said to have
created a new Malaysian record.
Meanwhile, another dinner was held by the DAP in nearby Lukut. More than 2,000 people had turn up at the 280-table dinner. Of course, it was quite bustling, too.
If someone says that the dinner attended by the Prime Minister had attracted many people because there were many goodies, including free meals and lucky draws, it would be an insult to local Chinese. They would not attend a political activity that they do not like or hate just for the free meals and lucky draws.
They attended the dinner to at least show that they still have room to choose, listen and observe. They were giving them a chance.
It reflected the general mentality of the Chinese. Please do not think that the Chinese are stubborn. In fact, most Chinese are still observing and secretly calculating.
However, did the turnout of 30,000 people mean the BN has grabbed Chinese votes and many people are supporting the BN?
It might not so.
