SEGAMAT- DAP's candidate for the Jementah state seat Tan Chen
Choon has his "hot" other half to thank for seeing him through the
hectic campaign period.
Spouse and former Batu Gajah MP Fong Po Kuan, nicknamed the "cili padi MP", got on to the campaign trail in Jementah and spoke at Tan's ceramah.
She had barely sat down when she was approached by residents, many of whom wanted to chat.
When it was her turn to speak, she brought parliament documents and
the auditor-general's report to highlight the issue of extravagant
expenditure by government agencies, such as over-priced binoculars.
She also cited the case of jogger Irene Ong, who died from stab wounds while trying to protect her daughter in Bukit Gasing as "an example of the National Key Results Area (NKRA), which does not translate to reality on the ground".
When PKR's Datuk Chua Jui Meng arrived, she stopped her speech, promising the 400-strong crowd that she would resume her speech after Chua's.
When met after the event, she played down her role in Jementah, and said the election campaign was kept going by committed volunteers.
"I am only complementing my husband. He is the one doing all the work together with the local helpers here," she said, adding that she will lend her support to campaigns throughout Johor, not just in Jementah.
