Syahredzan Johan also considers Khairul Azwan Harun's police report 'irresponsible', coming from a political leader.

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun can be investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to the police, alleging a conspiracy to topple the Prime Minister and the Malaysian government.
Lawyer Syahredzan Johan explained that Section 182 stipulated that it is an offence to provide false information to a public officer with intent to cause injury or annoyance to another person.
“When I say civil servants, I am referring to the police and by lodging a police report, he has given false information to the police to investigate the three Tan Sri allegedly involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the government.
“I do not want him to be investigated by the police or prosecuted, but he must realise that as a political leader, he should be more responsible in his actions,” he told FMT.
Syahredzan was commenting on a news report today quoting Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar as saying that the police report by Khairul was based on “assumptions” and therefore did not warrant further investigation.
Elaborating further on the matter, Syahredzan also described the police report lodged by Khairul as an irresponsible act by a political youth leader.
“Making a police report based on assumptions, without any evidence so much so that the police had to open an investigation into the matter,” he said.
He hoped Khairul will learn a lesson from his irresponsible act.
Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the police not taking any further action on his report, Khairul said: “Be patient.”
