Indeed, we need no rocket scientist to tell us what the 6th day
of May will bring us – for all Malaysians. If anything, we will sing in
unison for the first time since the early days of Merdeka, the very song
of Cat Stevens – the lyrics by Eleanor Farjeon:
Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word.
And the word is, ‘We won the long and hard battle for justice and peace, harmony and progress for all Malaysians.
So we need no cynical skeptic and recalcitrant politician to preach that a new dawn will not be for all Malaysians. We need no paid blogger to be the mouthpieces of sore losers as much as we need no patronizing media to spell doom.
For the spirit of all Malaysians – blind to color and creed, but respectful of our unity in diversity, will jubilantly light a new dawn in the history pages of this nation.
Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dew fall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet gardens
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
