Unspin: The one million non-Malays (and their descendants) who were given citizenship by first PM Tunku Abdul Rahman - to comply with one of the conditions of independence from the British - have contributed immensely to make Malaysia one of the richest countries in the world.
The same cannot be said about the hundreds of thousands of citizenships given out unilaterally by fourth PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad because Sabah remains one of the poorest states in Malaysia.
