JAYA: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce retired
army chief Hashim Hussein as the party’s candidate for the Johor Baru
parliamentary seat where he will be facing the hugely popular Umno
incumbent Shahrir Samad.Anwar is expected to announce Hisham’s candidacy during a ceramah in Johor Baru on Tuesday.
Sources told FMT that Hashim’s candidacy has been finalised as he was thought to stand a better chance to battle against the long-serving Shahrir in the coming general election.
“Anwar will make the announcement at the ceramah in Kampung Dato Sulaiman Menteri on Tuesday,” one of the sources told FMT.
