The two alleged Thai witnesses of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's 'sex' video returned home after a 12-hour police interrogation on
Friday but promised to return to Malaysia to air their revelations,
their lawyer said today.
The two Thais with PKR secretariat chief Shabrimie Sidek and their driver were arrested by police after crossing the Malaysian-Thailand border at Bukit Kayu Hitam at about 4pm on Friday but were not told the reasons till much later.
"They were only told that they were being investigated under Section
292 of the Penal Code for distribution of obscene material at about
2am," Senator Saiful Izham Ramli told The Malaysian Insider in a telephone interview.
The lawyer said the four had their statements taken and were released on police bail about 4am on Saturday, 12 hours after they were arrested. But the police kept their belongings, he added.
"The Thais immediately went back to Thailand but this had not scared them as they are still very spirited and intent on sharing the truth," Saiful said.
He said the four must report back to the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters on May 25 although he was confident they would return before that date.
"They had brought along video evidence that clearly proved that the purported 'sex' video of Anwarwith China dolls was a staged act," he said.
The videos along with other devices such as handphones and laptops were confiscated by the police when they were detained.
